Join us for a meaningful day of environmental stewardship and community to recognize Indigenous Peoples Day with a cleanup event with Ward 8 Woods. This special event offers a chance to honor the rich heritage of the Nacochtank and Piscataway peoples through the preservation of our local natural environment. We will spend the afternoon cleaning up trash and removing invasive plants.
This program is open to volunteers of all ages, including young children. We will be cleaning up a section of the woods located in Ward 8 in southeast DC, within walking distance of Naylor Road Metro Station. We expect to be on rocky terrain. Please reach out to Mira Smith at msmith@edcjcc.org with any accessibility or other questions.
All materials will be provided for this program - just bring a water bottle, snacks, and yourself! No prior experience necessary. Registration is required for this free program.
This program will be in partnership with Ward 8 Woods Conservancy, a grassroots nonprofit organization that works to increase the health, beauty, and public enjoyment of urban forests East of the Anacostia River in Washington, DC.
