Join us for a visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture where we will visit the concourse-level exhibit on slavery and freedom and hear from an expert on African American history in this time period.
Juneteenth is a holiday that offers us the opportunity to reflect on the arc of our history in the US and the treatment of African Americans who were brought as enslaved people to its shores. This year’s Juneteenth holiday comes as many anti-racism initiatives are being rolled back across all sectors of our society and the erasure of both Black people’s identities and histories. This is an excellent time to continue learning about the holiday of Juneteenth and the history of slavery in our country.
Join us for a visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture where we will not just visit the concourse-level exhibit on slavery and freedom but hear from an expert on African American history in this time period.
After visiting the exhibit, we will gather in the cafe for a debrief conversation and, for those who would like, to enjoy some lunch.
Free to attend, but advance RSVP is required so we can get the correct number of tickets. If you have any questions, please reach out to Sonya at sweisburd@edcjcc.org.
This program is presented in partnership with Washington Hebrew Congregation.
