The House of Dinah Sapphic Torah Study rewrites sacred text to claim space for sapphic women. This interactive text study is open to anyone passionate about creating a more inclusive Jewish narrative, regardless of educational background or whether you identify as sapphic.

Inspired by Midrash, the House of Dinah Sapphic Torah Study rewrites sacred text to claim space for sapphic women. This interactive text study is open to anyone passionate about creating a more inclusive Jewish narrative. You don’t need any specific educational background, knowledge of Hebrew, or to identify as sapphic yourself. What matters most is your openness to engage, question, and reimagine sacred Jewish stories. Join us for a laid-back, warm, come-as-you-are afternoon of learning and community building!

Light snacks (with kosher options available) will be served. If you have any questions or if the cost of this program poses a barrier, please reach out to Sonya at sweisburd@edcjcc.org.

About the facilitator: Junetember Jonez (she/they) is an unapologetic nerd born and raised in Richmond. As the creator of Bizarro Torah, she sparks joyful Jewish meaning-making with playful experiments across pop culture, sacred text, and roleplaying games. She was a featured panelist for Mishpacha Rising Collective's "Shalom, Sankofa" event and recently led a ShavuotLIVE session with Judaism Unbound. Prior to Covid-19, she joined the second cohort of Weinstein JCC's Leadership Academy. When she's not working on her next project, she can be found grabbing coffee with rabbis and lay leaders or catching the latest flicks at Bowtie Cinema.
