Jews and Booze: Torah and Tasting for Ages 35-50

Adults (18+)

Date : Tuesday, Jun 10

Time : 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Location : Edlavitch DCJCC
1529 Sixteenth Street, NW, Washington, DC

Build community, sip something delicious, and explore Jewish tradition through wine, beer, and whiskey. This four-part series features spirited learning, kosher tastings, and bold conversation. Come for the drinks, stay for the people.

Join us while we sip, study, and schmooze. In this 4-part series exploring the intersection of Jewish tradition and alcohol, we’ll taste our way through wine, beer, and whiskey while diving into fascinating questions like: What makes whiskey kosher? Why are there a million rules about wine in Jewish law? Can beer ever substitute its grape-made cousin for ritual purposes? What’s the story on brewing/fermenting your own booze?

Each session will feature a different kosher alcoholic beverage (plus non-alcoholic options) and thought-provoking Jewish learning in great company. We’re building a cohort—so while we hope you’ll come to all four sessions, drop-ins are still welcome if that’s what works for you.

Tuesdays, 7:00 PM-8:30 PM

Open to folks ages 35–50, from any Jewish background.

$85 covers the cost of all four parts of the series. If you’ve got questions—or if cost is a barrier—please reach out to Rabbi Atara at acohen@edcjcc.org.

We’d love to raise a glass with you!
