You (yes, you) can learn Talmud! In this empowering course, we will learn how to learn Talmud in the original by delving into a powerful Talmudic story. The course will use the method developed by SVARA: A Traditionally Radical Yeshiva. We will explore the structure of the traditional page of Talmud, learn how to use dictionaries, parse Aramaic grammar, and add our own voice to tradition – all while having a ton of fun.

The course will meet on Zoom for two hours, divided into class time and time to learn with a chavruta (bring your own or we’ll pair you). We will meet for 8 sessions, March 26-May 28, breaking for Pesach.

This course is for learners who: can read the Aleph bet (or even advanced Hebrew!); are new to Talmud or have not learned Talmud in the original before; are excited to take part in our challenging and joyful communal practice of learning Talmud.
