This workshop will prepare you practically for the profound transformation of becoming a parent. While most pre-birth preparation focuses entirely on caring for the baby, caring for yourself as you transition to this new stage deserves just as much preparation. This workshop will focus on creating support networks, pre-selected services, and making plans to reclaim your time and identity.
Join us at the EDCJCC for a workshop that prepares you practically for the profound transformation of becoming a parent. Most pre-birth preparation focuses entirely on caring for the baby. But caring for yourself as you transition to this new stage deserves just as much preparation.
Let's face it: the new baby will take up considerable emotional and logistical space in your already full life. Something will have to give. This workshop helps you prepare for that reality. We'll map your support network before you need it. We'll talk about which services to book now so you're not scrambling later. And we'll create a plan for making conscious choices about what gives—so you can transition to parenthood while preserving your friendships, your hobbies, and time just for you.
Babies are welcome and partners are encouraged to attend. While there may be some discussion of the biological pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum experience, we welcome anyone expecting the arrival of a baby, whether biological, adoptive, through a gestational carrier, or any other pathway. LGBTQ and straight, Jewish and non-Jewish – all are warmly welcomed! Kosher snacks will be served.
This workshop will be led by Jennifer Mickel, Founder of The Third Shift, a company that brings management frameworks to the mental load. Jennifer brings her JD-MBA and strategy consulting experience to helping parents streamline family operations and reclaim more joy.
