Come build community and learn together through tasting various alcoholic beverages and learning about what Jewish tradition has to say about them. This series will feature wine, beer, and whiskey and delve into questions such as: what makes whiskey kosher? Why are there a million rules about wine in Jewish law? Can beer ever substitute its grape-made cousin for ritual purposes? What’s the story on brewing/fermenting your own booze?
Each session will feature a kosher alcoholic beverage, as well as non-alcoholic options. Please note that this cohort is open to those ages 35-50 with any range of Jewish background. Please join us even if you cannot attend every session! If you have any questions or if the cost of this program is a barrier in any way, please reach out to Rabbi Atara at acohen@edcjcc.org.
This series will be held on Tuesday evenings: June 10 (wine and ritual), June 24 (wine and taboos), July 8 (beer), and July 22 (whiskey).
