Hester Kamin (she/her) is honored to join the extraordinary team at Theater J. She has served as Director of Education of five regional theatres, including Synetic Theater, and created the programs at two historic places: the 1400-seat Hawaii Theatre and Bucks County Playhouse.

Hester has also directed and choreographed more than 200 shows around the world. Recent: SPRING AWAKENING at Johns Hopkins University; SHIPWRECKED (THE TEMPEST) and STARCROSSED (ROMEO AND JULIET) at Gulfshore Playhouse and The Naples Philharmonic; SCAPINO at Kinetic Theatre, I NEVER SAW ANOTHER BUTTERFLY at Naples Players. Her play about a Holocaust survivor, IN FLIGHT: THE STORY OF SABINE VAN DAM, toured to young audiences for three years and was honored with a 2020 ArtWorks Award from The National Endowment for the Arts. Other awards include the Academy of American Poets Prize, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists National Award, and the Academy of Paris Award for Contribution to Arts and Culture.

Hester is honored to have been selected as a member of the international 2023-2024 Educators’ Neighborhood of the Fred Rogers Institute, where she will spend a year learning to apply the philosophy and practice of Mr. Rogers to her work in arts education.
