The Zweiflers (Part One)

The Sopranos, Mad Men, and The Bear all rolled into one. This fantastic dramatic comedy is set in a Jewish deli in Frankfurt Germany. Family patriarch Symcha Zweifler (Mike Burstyn) wants to sell his delicatessen empire when he is suddenly confronted with his past in Frankfurt’s red light district. Things get worse when Symcha’s grandson Samuel and his girlfriend Saba are expecting a son. A tragic-comic search for meaning in life begins. Between Frankfurt and Berlin, two cities as vibrant as New York can be, this contemporary tale of a Jewish family tells the story of the inheritance of the family delicatessen between three, soon to be four, generations of Zweiflers. Led by an incredible ensemble cast, the series shows how the past of some and the future of others come to clash, for the greatest joy of the audience. The Zweiflers was named best series at the seventh annual Canneseries festival. The six-part series was edited into two parts for the Festival.
