Unprepared Together: A High Holiday Reading Series for Ages 35-50

We all know the High Holidays are coming. Yet somehow, the deep spiritual work feels like something we consistently forget to schedule until it’s right around the corner. In this four-session series for 35- to 50-year-olds, we’ll read Rabbi Alan Lew’s This Is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared, unpacking the rituals, questions, and tough feelings the season stirs up.

Prepare thoughtfully for the Jewish High Holidays with this four-session series designed for adults in their mid-30s to 50. Using Rabbi Alan Lew’s acclaimed book This Is Real and You Are Completely Unprepared, we explore the spiritual practices, rituals, and emotional challenges of the fall Jewish holidays. This series offers meaningful adult learning and Jewish spiritual growth through open conversation and community connection. No pressure to have it all figured out—last-minute prep happens. What matters is you show up, and we’ll figure it out together. We’re building a cohort, so while we hope you’ll come to all four sessions, drop-ins are still welcome if that’s what works for you.

Registration is $75 for the full series, and we will meet from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM on the following Thursday evenings: September 4, September 11, September 18, and September 25. This class will meet at Rabbi Atara’s home over cozy beverages and snacks; exact address provided upon registration.
