Spend an evening cleaning trash from the Anacostia River with Living Classrooms as we engage in reverse Tashlich, an innovative approach to Jewish environmental stewardship. Open to volunteers of all ages!
Spend an evening giving back by cleaning trash from the Anacostia River with Living Classrooms.
Reverse Tashlich is an innovative approach to Jewish environmental stewardship. In the ritual of Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah, we go to a body of water and symbolically cast our “sins” into the water to begin the new year with a clean start. With Reverse Tashlich, we transform that ritual into action—removing human “sins” from the water through environmental cleanup.
We’ll start by hearing from Living Classrooms about their vital work to protect the Anacostia River, then join together to collect trash along the banks of Yards Marina.
This program is open to volunteers of all ages and faith backgrounds. Free to attend, but RSVP is required so we know how many to expect.
