This engaging, hands-on class will help teens gain the skills and confidence needed to be responsible, capable babysitters. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitting Certification.
The Red Cross Babysitting Class is designed to prepare youth with the skills and confidence needed to be responsible, capable babysitters. This engaging, hands-on course focuses on safety, leadership, and age-appropriate caregiving, helping participants learn how to care for children and infants while making smart decisions in real-life situations.
Participants will learn essential babysitting skills including basic child care, accident prevention, emergency response, and how to handle common scenarios such as mealtime, bedtime, and minor injuries. The course also emphasizes responsibility, professionalism, and communication, empowering students to manage themselves and others effectively.
Topics covered include: childcare basics; safety and injury prevention; basic first aid skills; responding to emergencies; and leadership, responsibility, professional conduct, and more.
This class is ideal for youth who are interested in babysitting for family members, neighbors, or friends and want to gain foundational life skills while learning how to keep children safe. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitting Certification, recognized nationwide. This course is recommended for ages 12–17.
