We all think we know the Exodus story… but do we? Once you start exploring centuries of interpretation, you’ll find bold questions, surprising twists, and perspectives that completely reshape the familiar narrative.

In this 5-part series, we’ll explore the Exodus through rabbinic interpretations, feminist retellings, and modern literary analysis. Each perspective offers a fresh angle on the journey from oppression to liberation, sparking lively conversations that are both meaningful and deeply relevant. Every January, Jewish communities around the world read these same chapters of Torah. This is your chance to join that global conversation and rediscover a story that has shaped Jewish identity for generations. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of the text, a richer appreciation for Jewish interpretation, and the insights gained from learning together.

This series is open to folks of all Jewish learning backgrounds. Texts will be provided in the original and in translation, and light snacks will be served.

This class is held on Thursday evenings, January 8-February 5, 2026, 7:00-8:30 PM. The cost covers the full series and you are welcome to join even if you cannot attend every session!
