Today’s parents are inundated with messages and information about “how to do it the right way”. But, as parents we have limited time, energy, and resources to support our children’s growth and development – so how do we choose? This virtual workshop will present scientifically-grounded information aimed toward helping parents let go of a perfectionistic approach to parenting and feel more confident about making intentional choices that they can sustain over time.

Dr. Abigail Romirowsky is a child psychologist who is passionate about supporting parents directly, in addition to her therapy work with children. She is especially committed to resisting the urge to develop a one-size-fits-all approach to anything related to parenting. This virtual workshop will help parents consider factors that are uncontrollable (like developmental phase, temperament and personality) and highlight factors where parents have at least some control. Dr. Romirowsky will present examples of how to use this framework and available scientifically-grounded information to make individualized decisions for children in some of the most frequent topics parents want to discuss: eating, sleeping, activities, peers, school involvement, and others.

Attendees are invited to send in anonymous questions ahead of time or bring them to the live event. When registering, be sure to select only one member of your household. Please reach out to Miriam Szubin at mszubin@edcjcc.org with any questions.
