Kick off the High Holiday season with Rosh Hashanah-themed fun for ages 0-8.
Kick off the High Holiday season at the EDCJCC’s annual Day of Awesome! This year’s program will feature Rosh Hashanah-themed fun with our JFamily team for children ages 0-4 in the parking lot, and learning and activities about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur with Hadar Institute educators for ages 4-8 inside.
In the parking lot, enjoy live music, dancing, and yoga with children’s entertainer Auntie A from Rhythm ‘N’ Ruach ; Rosh Hashanah-themed arts and crafts stations; story time featuring books about Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur; and snacks and drinks.
Inside, children ages 4-8 and their parents can enjoy either or both of these learning sessions with Hadar Children and Families Educator Chana Kupetz:
Rosh Hashanah Learning: Let it Go and Start Over (10:20-11:00): Going to the water on Rosh Hashanah to do tashlikh, a symbolic casting away of regrets and shame, is one of the most kid-friendly and accessible Jewish rituals. Join us for a discussion and hands-on activity where we will learn about and simulate this ritual, and use the power of water to begin again.
Yom Kippur Learning: There is Always One More Chance (11:10-11:50): Has someone ever asked you for one more chance to make things better? Did you give it to them, or were you tempted to say enough is enough? In this class, we will act out and discuss the story of Jonah and the lessons God teaches him about teshuvah and second chances.
