Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, Ph.D., of Park Avenue Synagogue is a leading voice in the Conservative movement. He was ordained at the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1999 and earned his Ph.D. from The University of Chicago Divinity School. His writings, including his dissertation on 20th century theologian Rabbi Louis Jacobs and his 2024 book For Such a Time as This: On Being Jewish Today, and his podcast Common Faith reflect his passion for the intersection of Jewish scholarship and faith. In addition to his leadership at Park Avenue Synagogue, Rabbi Cosgrove is a member of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Assembly, an officer of the New York Board of Rabbis, and a member of the Board of UJA-Federation of New York. He sits on the Chancellor’s Cabinet of the Jewish Theological Society and on the Editorial Board of Conservative Judaism; serves as Rabbinical Advisor for the Anti-Defamation League; and is on the Board of Trustees of Hillel at the University of Michigan and the National Board of Governors of Hillel at the University of Pennsylvania. Rabbi Cosgrove, his wife Debbie, and their four children live in New York City.
