This weekly virtual class will explore Haftorah passages as an opening to history, prophecy, and new insights into the parsha.

Mondays, February 15-April 18, 2024

For hundreds of years, synagogues have been reciting passages from Prophets (Nevi’im) to complement the weekly Torah reading. This weekly virtual class will explore these passages (Haftorah) as an opening to history, prophecy, and new insights into the parsha. We will analyze a cast of complex Biblical characters, including Isaiah, David, Deborah, Elijah, and Ezekiel as we consider the interconnection of different books within the Hebrew Bible. Norman Shore has been teaching in the DC Jewish community for 45 years and has been teaching Bible at the EDCJCC for 30 years.
