Announcing the LuJuan Jeffries Johnson Scholarship Fund
It is with heavy hearts that we write to you today to share some sad news. Many of you know LaJuan Jeffries Johnson, a mother of five, wife, swim instructor in the DC area for thirty-two years, and beacon of light within the EDCJCC community.
LaJuan has been teaching children to swim at the EDCJCC for over seven years, along with her husband, James, and her children Brittany, Jenice, Tony, and Dallas. After a long and hard-fought battle with terminal cancer, LaJuan passed away earlier this week.
We, and so many members of our community, are saddened by her loss and send our deepest sympathies to her family.
Many of you have asked how you can support the Jeffries Johnson family during this time. Here are two ways you can help:
LuJuan Jeffries Johnson Scholarship Fund
We have established the LuJuan Jeffries Johnson Scholarship Fund to provide access to the EDCJCC’s swim lessons to children in our community who, without the support, would not be able to attend.
Express Your Condolences
Share your memories of Miss LuJuan on this public message board.
As we say in the Jewish tradition, may her memory be a blessing, and should those who mourn her know no further sorrow.
With gratitude and wishes for a peaceful Shabbat,
Jen Zwilling,
Edlavitch DCJCC CEO
