Accessibility at the EDCJCC

The EDCJCC is committed to providing inclusive experiences for everyone in the community. If you need any assistance with accommodations, accessibility, or information not included on this webpage, please reach out to Maura Schmidt, Director of Inclusion and Disability Programs at mschmidt@edcjcc.org or 202-777-3276.

Parking and Entrances

A designated accessible parking space is located in the EDCJCC parking lot. The EDCJCC Parking lot is adjacent to the main building. For access to the lot, please pull up to entrance gate and press the intercom to speak to reception.

The entrances to the building from the parking lot and the sidewalk have ramps. The front doors have automatic door openers that can be used to assist in opening the doors.

Wheelchair Use

The EDCJCC has a manual wheelchair that can be used on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to use the wheelchair, please contact us ahead of time so it can be reserved for you.

Restrooms

The EDCJCC has handicap accessible restrooms available, as well as a single-use gender neutral/family restroom located on the lower level.

Aquatics

The EDCJCC pool has a pool lift and is ADA accessible.

Service Animals

Service animals are welcome at the EDCJCC. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, a service animal is defined as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability.

EDCJCC Social Narrative: Coming soon!

Social narratives are resource guides for individuals with cognitive disabilities and are useful as pre-visit introduction to your visit to the EDCJCC. The social narrative will highlight what to expect when visiting the EDCJCC. It will provide visual information on entrances, getting around the EDCJCC, and other information you may find valuable to know before arriving.
