About Camp

Leap into the magic of musical theater this summer. Young artists in grades 2–9 will spend the day singing, dancing, acting, and learning the history of musical theater in America. Each session will culminate with a performance for families and friends, followed by a celebration. There’s no place like Theater J!

Session 1: The Jungle Book

July 1–July 18, 2024 | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Final show and celebration: Thursday, July 18, 7:00 PM
No camp Friday, July 19

Forget about your worries and your strife as you follow Mowgli and his panther friend Bagheera deep into the heart of into the jungle. This tale of adventure, danger, and laughter features classic songs “Bare Necessities,” “I Wanna Be Like You,” and “Trust in Me.”

Session 2: The Wizard of Oz

July 22–August 8, 2024 | 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
Final show and celebration: Thursday, August 8, 7:00 PM
No camp Friday, August 9

Follow the yellow brick road! L. Frank Baum’s enchanting story takes us over the rainbow and into the land of Oz, where Dorothy must defeat the Wicked Witch in order to get home to Kansas. This summer, we’ll also celebrate the 85th anniversary of the beloved movie!


Rates

Theater J subscribers and EDCJCC members: $1,795
Non-subscribers and non-members: $1,955

Need-based scholarships available

50% of the payment is due at the time of registration; the second half of payment will be charged on Monday, June 10. Prior to May 31, students who withdraw will be refunded 50% of their first payment.


Auditions

Prior to being accepted into the program, we look forward to meeting you at auditions. Students should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring a photo of themselves (does not have to be a professional photo). Parents should be prepared to remain at the EDCJCC for the entire audition. Accepted students may choose to be in one program or both.

Auditions will be held on the below dates, and students only need to attend once. Please register in advance.
