Come celebrate Mother’s Day with brunch, live Klezmer, and exceptional photography!
Seth Kibel & The Kleztet will entertain and delight with a program of upbeat klezmer with detours into Yiddish folksong, jazz, swing, and the Great American Songbook.
The performance will also feature a presentation of new photography by Lloyd Wolf. His newest collection, “A Joyful Noise!” documents the burgeoning international Jewish klezmer scene across thirty years, capturing exceptional moments across generations.
Brunch begins at 9:30 AM; concert begins at 10:30 AM.
Seth Kibel is one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier woodwind specialists, working with some of the best bands in klezmer, jazz, swing, and more. Wowing audiences on clarinet, flute, and saxophone, Seth has made a name for himself in the Washington/Baltimore region and beyond. He is a featured performer with The Kleztet, Bay Jazz Project, Music Pilgrim Trio, Daryl Davis Band, The Natty Beaux, and more. Winner of 28 Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies), including “Best World Music Instrumentalist” (2003-11) and “Best Jazz Instrumentalist” (2005, 2007-8, 2011-14).
Lloyd Wolf is an award-winning photographer whose work has been shown in over 150 exhibitions internationally and is collected in numerous museums. He has done assignments for The Washington Post Magazine, National Geographic Explorer, People, AFl-CIO, the Smithsonian, HBO, Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Forward, Moment, and Vogue. He has received a National Endowment for the Arts grant and leads a diverse team of artists for the Columbia Pike Documentary Project. Previous books include “Jewish Mothers: Strength Wisdom Compassion,” “Jewish Fathers: A Legacy of Love,” “Facing the Wall. Americans at the Vietnam Memorial,” “Living Diversity,” “Transitions,” and “The Road Ahead.” He has taught at Shepherd College, George Mason University, and to homeless and immigrant youth.
