“CALLING ALL TEENS! Apply to JxJ’s 2026 Teen Film Contest!”
What is the JxJ Richard Solloway Teen Film Contest?
An annual film contest geared towards talented teens in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area to showcase their creativity through short films. Whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or already a seasoned filmmaker, this contest is your chance to gain experience, collaborate, and have your work screened at the JxJ theater alongside other young creators from the region.
This year’s contest question is “what parts of your world often go unseen?”
Finalists will be selected from two age categories (13-15 and 16-18), with one winning film chosen from each group. The films of both finalists and winners will have their world premiere at a special JxJ screening in May. In addition, the two winning filmmakers will each receive a $500 gift card.
Who can submit a video?
Any teen between the ages of 13 and 18 can submit a short video. You do not need to be Jewish and the film does not need to be about Jewish life.
How to submit your video?
You MUST submit or email a photo/scan of the signed terms and agreement document available here for your film to be considered. Submit your film by uploading your video file to the dropbox link below or via the email below! You can also send a private link (Youtube, Vimeo, or Dropbox).
Make sure to include your name and email in the file name, otherwise your submission may not be considered. The file name should follow the format: FilmName_SubmitterName_Email_SchoolName
Submission Deadline: March 4, 2026!
When Does the Contest Take Place?
The overall JxJ Festival takes place in May, 2026, throughout the DMV area; the films of the finalists and winners will be screened at the theaters at the Edlavitch DCJCC. The schedule will be uploaded soon.
