For four decades the band has stood at the forefront of global roots music, transforming klezmer into a contemporary international language of protest, joy, and solidarity. Emerging from New York’s East Village in 1986, The Klezmatics helped spark the modern revival of Yiddish music while fearlessly blending it with jazz improvisation, gospel intensity, and global rhythms.
The new album, We Were Made For These Times, is their most ambitious project in years — a sweeping cross-cultural collaboration addressing migration, resilience, and collective responsibility through music.
