Soheil is 15 when his Jewish-Iranian family moves to one of Berlin’s majority-Muslim neighborhoods. Eager to fit in with the gangs that dominate the city, Soheil hides his Jewish identity until one day his friends decide to rob the local Jew-lery, as they call it.
Suddenly, Soheil can no longer ignore his heritage, and he begins to embrace who he is and where he comes from.
Based on Arye Sharuz Shalicar’s provocative autobiography, Wet Dog raises questions of cultural diversity, religious identity, assimilation, and how these forces intersect during Soheil’s formative years.
