Parenting With An Accent Author Talk and Reception


Join Masha Rumer, author of Parenting With An Accent: How Immigrants Honor Their Heritage, Navigate Setbacks, and Chart New Paths for Their Children (Beacon Press, 2021) for a discussion about the joys and challenges of immigrant parenting, including bilingualism strategies and balancing traditions in multicultural and interfaith families. Masha will also present her findings, based on academic research, over sixty interviews with immigrants, and interviews with experts in language acquisition, psychology and more.

Masha’s writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Parents, Kveller, and others, winning awards from the New York Press Association. She is an immigrant from the former Soviet Union. You can find more about her work at
