Families Serving Together: Activity Kits for Refugees

Families Serving Together: Activity Kits for Refugees

September 11, 2022 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Edlavitch DC JCC
Mira Smith

Help welcome newly arrived refugee children to the DMV!

What: Spend your morning supporting our closer partner organization, Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. LSS supports refugee and immigrant families through a range of services from resettlement, to youth education, and workforce development. Together, we will learn about the Jewish value of “welcoming the stranger” and how it applies to our lives. Volunteers will then create and decorate activity packs to go to children in LSS programs.

Who: This program is open to families with children of all ages!

When: 1:00PM – 3:00PM

Where: The program will take place inside the EDCJCC located at 1529 Sixteenth Street NW.

Registration: To cover the cost of supplies, registration costs $5 per participant. This fee is fully tax-deductible. Please register for each individual member of your family so we have an accurate head count. Click on the Tickets button to proceed to registration.

Covid-19: At this time, masking is optional inside the Edlavitch DCJCC but we encourage and embrace everyone to do whatever is best for you. All visitors entering the EDCJCC’s building are required to show proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours. For more information, visit edcjcc.org/covidsafety
