About the Instructor:

unnamed (11).jpgShanna was born and raised in the D.C. area. She studied Theatre and Education at Smith College as an undergraduate, and then bounced around the country for nearly five years doing a hodgepodge of jobs including a stint with AmeriCorps as a GED instructor and a term as the President of Deaf Equal Access Foundation of Louisiana. One of her highlights was driving out west for a few months to act with Deaf West, a professional Deaf theatre company in Los Angeles.

Shanna is now back in the D.C. region, teaching American Sign Language at the secondary level. In 2017, she served as Education & Accessibility Fellow at 1st Stage in Tysons Corner. Currently she is the Senior Manger of Access & Inclusion at Imagination Stage. Acting is her first true love and still makes her heart pitter-pat. Shanna enjoys strong cups of coffee, hiking and camping, and is happiest when she is immersed in water, whether in a kayak or in a bathtub.
