GLOE – The Kurlander Program for GLBTQ Outreach & Engagement
Connecting LGBTQ Jews at the Edlavitch DCJCC
GLOE, the first and only full-time LGBTQ engagement program at any Jewish Community Center in the world, serves DC’s queer Jewish community (and our friends/allies) through an array of unique and meaningful programs in the areas of arts and culture, community service, holidays and spirituality, social justice, and of course, social events.
GLOE also hosts events specifically geared towards LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ-parented families, providing opportunities all year long to create community through GLOE Youth & Family.
Whether your Jewish identity involves creating new LGBTQ rituals, or if it starts and ends with a bagel at brunch, you’ll fit right in at GLOE.
The continuity of the GLOE program is made possible by the generous contributions of our community members. Their donations to GLOE ensure that we can continue to create events and opportunities to come together in celebration of our Jewish and LGBTQ identities. As we prepare to march together at Capital Pride, we ask you to join us in supporting LGBTQ community engagement by considering a contribution today.
Join Behrend Builders and GLOE to paint and beautify an LGBTQ Shelter and Community Space, serving the LGBTQ and transgender community. Transgender youth have a suicide rate of 40%, and are far more likely than their peers to end up homeless without a support network. Help create a welcoming space that provides them with a home, a support network, and critically important case management.
No previous painting experience necessary!
Please note children must be 14 and over to participate, no exceptions.
We request a $20/person tax-deductible program fee to help us cover the costs of supplies. If the program fee is in any way a barrier to volunteering please don’t hesitate to contact Randy: email@example.com
