Camp EDCJCC policies
For more information on Camp EDCJCC policies, please refer to the Parent Handbook.
Mask-wearing inside of the EDCJCC will also be required by all campers and staff at all times (as is currently required by the District of Columbia), except while eating or drinking in designated locations. The vaccination and mask policy will be updated based on CDC guidance, as well as guidance from local and state governmental health authorities. Updates or adjustments to this policy will be communicated on our website and in emails to our community. This policy will be implemented and enforced in full compliance with all applicable laws requiring reasonable accommodations of disabilities and religious beliefs.

Facilities, Location, and Transportation
Our Camp at the EDCJCC (rising PreK4, Kindergarten and 1st grade) enjoy the fun-filled facility of the EDCJCC, including an indoor pool, art and kitchen classrooms, and community hall, plus nearby playgrounds and parks. The EDCJCC is conveniently located four blocks east of the Dupont Circle Metro – Q Street exit. Our curbside drop-off and pick-up make it easy for commuting parents.
Our rising 2nd-6th graders will join with the campers at the Bender JCC to enjoy their outdoor facility in Rockville, complete with a large outdoor pool, open fields and tented spaces. Bus transportation between the EDCJCC to Bender will be available for an additional cost.
Staff and Safety
The safety and well-being of our campers are our top priorities. We maintain low camper-to-counselor ratios to ensure that our campers are well-supervised at all times. Staff members are certified in First Aid, and lead counselors are certified in CPR.
We will follow all state-mandated and CDC regulations pertaining to COVID in effect at the time of summer camp, including the size of groups, social distancing, and mask regulations. We will have all criteria in place to run a safe camp program.
For more information on our Covid Protocols please see our Parent Handbook.
The EDCJCC embraces inclusion in all its programs and activities. We welcome and encourage the participation of all people, regardless of their background, sexual orientation, abilities, or religion, including interfaith couples and families.
Health & Wellness
Camp at the EDCJCC is dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of our campers, staff, and facility. Please do not send your child to camp with a fever or infection. Your child must be fever- and infection-free for 24 hours before returning to camp. If your child is sent to camp sick, they will not be permitted to stay and you will be called to pick them up. If your child should become ill at camp, they will be brought to the camp office, and the Camp Director will call you. Your child will rest in the camp office until they are picked up.
All camper forms can be accessed, filled out, and uploaded through our Camp-In-Touch portal on CampMinder. These forms are necessary to help us to provide your child(ren) with the best care possible. The following forms are required for all campers:
• Health History and Profile
• Emergency Information and Pick Up Authorization
• Sunscreen Permission
• Authorization to Medicate (if necessary)
*You will receive an email when forms are ready to be completed.
Registration and Deposit
To reserve your spot for the 2022 Camp Season, please fill out the secure online registration application on CampMinder. New families may click here to register and returning families may click here to sign in. Registration includes a $200 non-refundable deposit for each camper and is on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be two options for payment when submitting your application.
Option A includes paying the deposit upon enrollment and then being charged in two equal installments on February 1 and April 1.
Option B includes paying in full upon enrollment.
You will be able to choose which option you prefer when applying for camp. Registrations made after April 1, 2022 must be paid in full at the time of registration. No child will be allowed to begin their camp experience without all fees being paid in full.
If you decide to unenroll your child for camp before April 1, you will be refunded half of what you have already paid for. You will not be refunded your $200 deposit. No refunds will be made for withdrawals after April 1, 2022. The EDCJCC reserves the right to request that a camper leave the camp because of a violation of the camp regulations or because of personal conduct that interferes with the health or welfare of themselves or others. Should this occur, we will not offer refunds. No refunds or make-up dates will be available in the event of cancellation due to severe weather or unforeseen circumstances outside of the EDCJCC’s control.
The Edlavitch DCJCC reserves the right to cancel any camp program due to insufficient enrollment. Should this occur, we will make every effort to accommodate registered campers in other programs. If we cannot do so, we will offer a full refund.
If we are unable to run our in-person camp due to COVID restrictions, all monies will be refunded, including any deposits.
