Ruti Abramovitch, An Evening in Spain (Piano Recital) @ Cafritz Hall

Known for her lyrical and colorful tone, pianist Ruti Abramovitch is a highly sought-after soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. Born in Israel, Ruti lived in Chicago for the past decade, performing at some of the city’s most notable concert halls such as Symphony Center, The Art Institute of Chicago, Preston-Bradley Hall at the Cultural Center, and Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston, IL.

This evening’s program delights with some of the most evocative, poetic, and alluring music written for the piano by 19th and 20th century composers from Catalonia, Spain, Argentina, and Cuba. The program opens with the enchanting “Childhood Scenes” by the Catalan-French Federico Mompou. Then, Abramovitch explores the mesmerizing “Romantic Scenes” of Enrique Granados, which echoes his affinity and admiration for Robert Schumann and Fredetic Chopin. The avant-garde “Argentinian Dances” of Alberto Ginastera breaks new ground, blending melancholic tango with folk-dance rhythms.
