SUMMARY:Ride For The Living Satellite Ride
DESCRIPTION:Join 3GDC’s satellite Ride for the Living while we ride through DC in partnership with the JCC Krakow as they ride through Poland. \n\n\n\nJCC Krakow initiated two programs to commemorate the Holocaust: the Ride for the Living Global Challenge\, “a comprehensive fitness experience commemorating the Holocaust and honoring the rebirth of the Jewish community in Krakow\, Poland\,” and Holocaust Survivor Day to celebrate the bravery\, sacrifices\, and lives of survivors. 3GDC is proud to be one of the many organizations from around the world to hold our own events locally and hope you will join. \n\n\n\nIn the morning\, 3GDC will host the Ride for the Living challenge. While the original ride takes place from the gates of Auschwitz-Birkenau to JCC Krakow\, 3GDC is partnering with DC Jews on Bikes for a 36-mile bike ride to show support for local survivors and for our partners in Krakow. We will also offer a 9- mile route as well that will depart from the JCC at 11:00 AM.

SUMMARY:Family Shabbat Clusters
DESCRIPTION:Looking for a Shabbat community? Want to meet other families in the DC area? Join our Family Shabbat Cluster\, a small group of families who meet for a monthly potluck dinner at each other’s homes. This program is intended for families with children ages 0-7 who are Jewish\, Jew-ish\, or anything in between! \n\n\n\nWe’ll kick off the season with a Shabbat dinner at the Edlavitch DCJCC on Friday\, July 10 – dinner is on us! Come meet your Shabbat Cluster\, make a challah cover with your family\, and set the dates for your future dinners together. \n\n\n\nFamilies do not need to attend all Shabbat dinners to participate in the program\, but we strongly encourage it. The program runs through December 2026 with one Shabbat dinner a month. Families will take turns hosting dinner in their home. The EDCJCC will provide Shabbat blessings\, ritual materials\, and logistical support in setting up the dinners. \n\n\n\nRegistration closes on Monday\, July 6. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the registration fee helps the JCC cover some of the costs of running the Family Shabbat Clusters program and represents your commitment to attending. If this cost is prohibitive or if you have any additional questions\, please email Sonya at sweisburd@edcjcc.org.

SUMMARY:Pencil Packs for Community of Hope
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for an evening of volunteering! We will begin the evening with a pizza dinner\, followed by assembling pencil packs for Community of Hope. Community of Hope provides direct services to address the needs of homeless and low-income families and individuals in DC. Each year\, they distribute close to 1500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to their clients and members of the community. Pre-registration is required for this program\, and we expect it to fill up quickly! This event is suitable for adults and children over the age of 7. \n \nWe request a $10 registration fee for anyone over the age of 5 to help offset the cost of supplies. If this is in any way prohibitive to your participation or if you have any additional questions\, please email Mira at msmith@edcjcc.org. \n \nThere is limited space for this program and registration is required for participation. As the JCC relies on a specific number of volunteers to be able to produce the amount of Pencil Packs that Community of Hope needs\, we ask that you only register if you are committed to showing up to volunteer on this day.

SUMMARY:Handmade for the Homeless - August 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow knitters and crocheters to make handmade goodies for a great cause! Our goal is to contribute as many warm winter items as possible to distribute to individuals experiencing homelessness in the DC area. All levels of knitters and crocheters are welcome. Don’t know how to knit or crochet? We’ll teach you! \n\n\n\nWhat should I bring? Please bring your own needles/crochet hooks. If you are not already working on a warm winter item and are looking for a great project or just starting out\, please bring #8 or #10 knitting needles (circular or straight) or a size H crochet hook. Don’t forget the patterns you’re working on or want to start. \n\n\n\nWhat do you supply? We provide lots of beautiful yarn\, several patterns including hat patterns using #17 needles or a size N crochet hook\, and experienced knitters and crocheters to teach anyone who would like to learn. If you can’t join us in person\, join us in spirit by knitting or crocheting hats\, scarves\, gloves and mittens\, socks or slippers\, and other items to keep people warm during the cold winter months. \n\n\n\nThis event is seated and indoors. If you have any questions\, please reach out to Chana at chanaengel@gmail.com.
