HEBREW CLASSES – SUMMER session 2019

The Edlavitch DCJCC offers several levels of conversational Hebrew, from learning the aleph-bet to reading advanced literature. Our teachers are native Hebrew speakers with many years of teaching experience. They regularly tweak their classes to fit the needs and interests of their students.
Classes are offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings in a 12-week session. Each class is one hour.
Aleph, Bet, Gimel, Givatayim, Dimona, Herzliya, and Vered HaGalil require the textbook Hebrew From Scratch (Part 1).You can purchase a new copy of the textbook at the time of registration and pick it up in your classroom on your first day of class.

During our renovation Hebrew Classes will take place at the EDCJCC Townhouse across the street at 1534 16th St NW. We apologize for the inconvenience but this building is not ADA accessible.

BEGINNER HEBREW LEVELS
Aleph: Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Beginners! This is the class for you if you need to learn the aleph-bet (Hebrew alphabet) and start building your vocabulary. Students with a basic knowledge of the aleph bet but very little or no vocabulary or grammar experience should sign up for this level as well.

Bet: Thursdays, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
This class is for students who have completed Aleph OR know the aleph-bet, can read, and have started to gather vocabulary and grammar.

Gimel: Thursdays, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
This class is for students who have completed Bet OR have some vocabulary and a grasp of grammar.

ADVANCED HEBREW LEVELS
Please contact our advanced Hebrew teacher, Sarit Lisogorsky, before registering for an advanced Hebrew class to make sure you’re in the right level. Entrance into an advanced level will be at the discretion of the instructor.
Givatayim: Wednesdays, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
This level is intended for students who have completed level Gimel OR for students who are able to conjugate verbs in the present tense, use pronouns, and conduct basic conversations in the present tense.

Dimona: Mondays, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This level is for students who are able to hold conversations in the present tense; read, comprehend, and answer questions about simple texts on a variety of topics; and conjugate verbs in the present tense. This class focuses on building vocabulary, improving reading, and conducting conversations in the present tense.

Herzliya: Mondays, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
This level focuses on building vocabulary, improving reading, and conducting conversations in past and future tenses.

Vered HaGalil: Mondays, 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
This level is a high-level class focusing on improving reading, improving conversation skills, and learning higher level grammatical concepts.

Zichron Yaakov: Wednesdays, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Ready to challenge your Hebrew skills? This class is student-driven, with high-level reading, writing, and speaking on current events, short stories, news articles, and more.

Hadera: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
This is our highest level Hebrew class for students who want to do a lot of in-depth speaking and reading at a very high level.
